How to make your lips Look younger

When we are young, we have beautiful full lips. Time is not kind. Our lips become less plump due to declining collagen production. Lips look thinner and drier. Here is a way to turn back time a bit and make your lips look younger with a little makeup magic.
Exfoliate
First, exfoliate your lips with a little sugar scrub.  It not only smooths peeling lips, it stimulates circulation giving the lips more color. Be sure to include the lip line.

Moisturize
Then, apply a thin layer of facial moisturizer to your lips and lip line.

Seal
Next, apply a thin layer of lip balm to seal in the moisturizer.

Liner
Now it's makeup time. Use a lip liner that is close to your natural lip color to define the shape of your lips, ever so slightly going over the natural lip line to make them look fuller. I like the shade Cameo by Prestige.

Lipstick
Add a nude pink lip color with a little shimmer in it for a moist looking shine and to create fullness.

Shine
Add lip gloss to the center of your lips to create a plumper look.

How to prevent Mascara Smudges

lashes with mascara
Do you have trouble with mascara smudging onto your skin as the day goes on?  It could be because of the oils in your skin. Your natural oils build up as the day goes on and start to dissolve your mascara. Waterproof mascara is not the answer. Your natural oils will soften both waterproof and non waterproof mascara.

Here are 3 tricks that help prevent mascara smudging

1. Apply face powder to your skin throughout the day to help absorb oil from your skin.

2. Use oil blotting paper throughout the day to absorb oil from your skin.

3. Put a coat of clear mascara over your black mascara. e.l.f. make one for just $2! It doesn't get better than that!

NYX Butter Lipstick

I love this gorgeous color! It's NYX Butter Lipstick in Sweet Tart.
nyx pink lipstick sweet tart

It has a lot of pigment and provides nice solid color. It is a very creamy lipstick that does not feel sticky. I have read that the lighter colors are a bit streaky. Sweet Tart did not streak at all.
Find it at Ulta and nyxcosmetics.com for $6.00.

New OPI Glitter Off Base Coat

Don't you just hate taking off glitter nail polish? All that rubbing and rubbing with polish remover. OPI has come up with a solution, Glitter Off Natural Nail Base Coat. The base coat peels off. No polish remover is needed. I just had to try it. This is for natural nails.

Here are the ingredients.

water, polyvinyl acetate, phenoxyethanol, PEG-3, methyl ester, PEG-12, dimethicone, disiloxane, acrylates copolymer, ethylhexlyglycerin, tocopherol

Start by applying thin coat to clean nails. Let it dry completely. It goes on milky and dries a clear matte finish.
Pile on the glitter!
To take it off,  I used an orange wood stick to lift the edge then, peeled it up.
I did not have the glitter polish on that long so it peeled easily. I think, the longer glitter polish is on, the harder it will be to peel off. It will probably come off in flaky pieces.
I used a bit of polish remover to clean up the residue that was left. The nail looked fine. No damage. Not sure if it would cause peeling to the nail with constant use, though.
OPI offers a nice tip. Wear a glitter polish accent nail to match your outfit. You can easily change it to match what you are wearing each day.
Find it at salon and Ulta for $9.00.

Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Waterproof Mascara

Recently, a friend asked me to recommend a good waterproof mascara and I realized that I don't really have a favorite. So, I am setting out to find one. I read good reviews about Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Waterproof Mascara. I like the ingredients and it is not tested on animals.

I picked one up in Intense Black for $19.00.

I found it difficult to apply. There was some small clumping in spite of the comb like mascara wand. It didn't go on smooth.

The thing that annoyed me the most during application was that pieces dropped onto my under eye area and cheeks. I don't know. Maybe the tube I bought was a little dry.  The pieces did brush away easily however.

This mascara did wear very well. No smudges and it didn't budge when exposed to water. It definitely required the use of makeup remover.

I didn't love it, though because of the bit of small clumping and the fallout during application. I will continue my search.

Shimmery Eye Shadow Application Tips

A soft shimmery eye lid add brightness to the eye. A little shimmer looks good on almost everyone. I like Jesse's Girl Pure Pigment Eye Dust. It is inexpensive and is easy to find in right in your local Rite Aid for $3.99. You can apply a very light amount for a soft look or build it up for a glitzy eye. Here are a few pointers for getting it perfect.

1. Start by applying a thick layer of face powder under your eye area and on the top of the cheeks.

2. Apply an eye shadow primer to your eyelids to even skin tone and give the eye dust better adhesion. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is a good one.
http://www.toofaced.com/c/eye-shadow-primers/

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue Glitter Bonding Eye Shadow Primer is also good but is clear so it won't even skin tones.

3. Apply pencil eyeliner for a soft liner look. Apply liquid later for a bold liner look.

4. Use you finger or a sponge eye shadow applicator to apply the dust. A brush will drop too much product. Shake a bit of dust into the lid of the jar. Dip your finger or shadow applicator into the dust. Then, press the dust onto your eyelid. Repeat to build the color.

5. Apply liquid eyeliner now if you want a bold liner look. Then, mascara and let dry.

6. Now, use a powder brush to whisk away eye dust fallout and face powder that was applied under eye and cheek area.

7. Use scotch tape wrapped around your index finger to remove any shimmer dust fallout still remaining on your under eye and cheek area.

Does stress make hair turn gray?

Yes, it does!

There are cells called melanocytes that produce the pigment melanin in our hair. There are two types of pigment, the darker brown or black eumelanin pigment and the lighter red or blond phaeomelanin pigment which blend together to create our various hair colors.

As we age, the melanocyte function slows down and the hairs start to loose their color gradually turning gray. Hair turns white when the melancytes stop working altogether. How your hair grays is genetically programmed, but gray also can be caused by auto immune diseases and certain viral illnesses, disorders such as thyroid dysfunction, long term nutritional deficiencies, environmental toxins, hormones, and chemotherapy.

Stress can cause hormone changes in our bodies and hormones can cause the hair to gray. The before and after pictures of our presidents are a good example of stress graying the hair.

No one ever has to be gray, though. We have hair color to dye those grays:)
