How to make your lips look bigger & younger

When we are young, we have beautiful full lips. Time is not kind. Our lips become less plump due to declining collagen production. Lips start to look thinner and drier. They can also get more pale.

There is a way to turn back time a bit and make your lips look bigger and younger with a little lip skin care plus a little makeup magic. I'm giving you a lot of lip tips here. Feel free to pick and choose to use your favorite tips or try them all!

There is a lip plumping product that I adore!  It and some of my other favorite beauty products are included in my tips below along with my Amazon Affiliate links to help you get these great products for yourself.

Make Your Lips Look Bigger & Younger

Exfoliate
First, exfoliate your lips with a little sugar scrub.  It not only smooths peeling lips, it stimulates circulation giving the lips more color. Be sure to include the skin around the lips.

Here is a basic sugar scrub recipe you can whip up at home:

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Olive Oil or Coconut Oil

Mix brown sugar and oil together in a small bowl until smooth. Wet your lips. Apply scrub to your lips. Massage the lips and lip line in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Rinse, pat dry and apply moisturizer.

A wet washcloth will also do the trick. Hold a comfortably hot washcloth compress on your lips for 2 minutes. Then, massage your lips with the washcloth. It will help soften and remove peeling.

Moisturize
Then, immediately apply a thin layer of lip moisturizer to your lips and the skin around your lips to seal in the moisture from the exfoliating treatment.

My fav eye and lip cream is Yonka Excellence Code Contours. It is a light anti aging cream formulated for the delicate eye area and lip area. It makes the skin look smoother and moist without any irritation.

Seal It
Next, apply a thin layer of lip balm to seal in the moisturizer. Blot off any excess.

Foundation
Use a foundation that matches your face color on your lip line. This will allow you to draw your lip liner slightly outside of the lip line to create a fuller looking lip.

Concealer
Use a concealer brush to add a thin layer of a light color concealer all around outside of the lip line to highlight and create a fuller look plus help conceal lines. Blend it well into your foundation so there is no line of demarcation. Use a cream or liquid moisturizing concealer that is crease resistant. My fav concealer is Bare Minerals Barepro 16 Hour Full Conerage Concealer.

Liner
Use a lip liner that is close to your natural lip color to define the shape of your lips. Go slightly outside of the natural lip line to make the lips look fuller. Lips will not look natural if you go too far outside of the lip line.

I like the shade Cameo by Prestige. It seems to match or blend well with many lips that are a medium lip skin tone. I find it hard to find Prestige pencils these days. They are an inexpensive yet quality lip pencil that used to be easy to find at Ulta and Rite Aid.

It may be easiest to go right to the Prestige Cosmetics website

I did manage to find a 6 pack of pencils for a super deal on amazon, though!

Lipstick Color
Choose the right color. A lipstick color should complement your skin tone. I know I love the bold reds, plums and hot pinks, but bright and bold colors can look aging on those of us who are a little older! Avoid dark colors which can make your lips look small and very light colors which can make you look too pale.

Colors that work well are:

💄Medium rosy pink shades
💄Soft coral pink shades
💄Rosy brown shades
💄Medium nude shades

Lipstick Finish
Choose a creamy lipstick. The lipstick can also have a soft shimmer or satin finish to reflect light and make your lips look fuller.

Avoid heavy frosted lipstick. It will age you.

Avoid matte lipstick. I know it looks simply fabulous on younger lips, but it will be aging on older lips. A moist look is a young look.

Shine
Add lip gloss to the center section of your lips to create a plumper look. Laura Geller Color Luster Lip Gloss High Def Top Coat in Gilded Honey give you beautiful shine with a little gold shimmer bonus!

Plumping Gloss

I have tried a number lip plumping products. Some work, some do a little and some do nothing at all.

The product I find to be truly amazing for me is Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme. This stuff plumps my lips like nobody's business!!! It is a hydrating gloss that you can use on bare lips or over lipstick. It works great either way!

It comes in 5 colors Bubble Yum, Original (which is iridescent like clear),  Pink Punch, Strawberry Kiss and Tangerine Dream. I use the Original.

It is super important to apply the product on the lips only. I have gone out of the lip line and it plumps the area up so much, it looks like hives!

It does have a tingling almost burning sensation that lasts, for me, about 5 to 10 minutes after applying it.

The plumping effect lasts for hours on my lips without feeling sticky. I love it!

Keep your lips looking younger by taking care of them the same way to take care of your face. Use a lip moisturizer and lip balm morning and evening everyday. Exfoliate them about once a week and you will have bigger, softer beautiful kissable lips.

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps.  They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Read more about blackhead, whiteheads and blind pimples This is a common problem for the under-eye area. It is a dry, delicate area of the skin. I see it a lot on my clients. Heavy products

Dermatofibromas

This post is all about dermatofibromas and some remedies to help make them look better and ways hide them. It includes my Amazon Affiliate Links to help you find the products I talk about. Q. I have this brown bump on my leg that won't go away. What can I do about it? A. It could be a dermatofibroma. I see them often on my leg waxing clients. A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated. A doctor will tell you not to worry about it because it's benign, but it's kind of ugly! Dermatofibromas are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  Be careful when shaving because a dermatofibroma may bleed and become sore if nicked. Don't think you can get rid of it by shaving it off. It will be an awful looking sore and will j

Dermatofibroma on Leg

A Dermatofibroma is an unsightly brown or red bump that is very common on the legs. They are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas and are more common in women than men. They can hurt, itch and become inflamed easily. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  I have tried lots of home remedies on my dermatofibroma. Some help it look better than others but the ugly thing is still there! Read more about dermatofibroma remedies. There is only one way to remove it for good...surgery. It must be surgically excised out. A dermatofibroma goes deep into the skin. It will only grow back if it is cut off of the skin at surface level. The problem with the removal is it leaves a long scar that is about 2 inches or so long. It has to be done that way to be able to sew the skin back together so it is smooth and not puckery. Here is a picture of a scar from the removal of a dermatofibroma. This scar was also treated with a laser to imp
