Eyeliner: Stila vs Prestige

Does a waterproof Eye Liner Pencil hold up better than a regular plain old pencil? I decided to put it to the test. I picked up a Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner at Ulta. It was a great beauty bargain in their 21 days of Beauty promotion, buy one get, one free. A great deal since one pencil is $20.00.  I decided to put it to the test against my favorite drug store brand Prestige, which sells for $3.95 on Prestige.com, to see which one held up the best. The Prestige pencil I tested is not waterproof but it has always held up well for me. Prestige does make an automatic waterproof pencil ($5.95) like the Stila pencil, but I happen to like the basic pencil the best. You can sharpen it to get a fresh clean point. So that's what I used. On one eye I used Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray. On the other eye I used Prestige Classic Khol Eyeliner in Black. I applied both in the same fashion: the liner then smudged the line lightly with a flat liner brush and

NYX Le Chick Flick Waterproof Mascara Review

I am always looking for a good waterproof mascara. I don't need it everyday, but it is great on vacation and I always use waterproof on my brides. I am trying out a mascara from the NYX Boudoir  collection, Le Chick Flick. It's an inexpensive mascara.  Just $6. It has my favorite bunny logo on it! It went on beautifully. Smooth, very black and no clumping or flaking at all. It lengthened my lashes but the lashes did stick together a little bit. So far, so good. I will be spending my day at the beach today to give it a good test. It is holding up well so far. No smearing or smudges!  Well, it is now the end of a fun day at the beach and my mascara performed very well. Here it is after the splash test. Almost perfect. There are few very small dots after being exposed to water and they could be from my eye liner.  Look how good the lashes still look after all day! I didn't actually swim with this mascara on so I don't know how well it would h

Urban Decay Blackout Eyeshadow

Are you looking for the darkest, boldest black eyeshadow possible?  I think I found it!  I love a nice matte black eye shadow that I can use as an eyeliner, but it can be hard to find! Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Blackout is the perfect matte black! Look how nice and black it is with no shine at all! It goes on smooth and even creating a beautiful soft line.   I do hate the fallout during application, though.   It's so black. Be sure to tap off your brush or blot it on a tissue before application to help reduce the fallout. It works great wet for less fallout.   Wet an eyeliner brush then swirl it on the eye shadow.   Give the brush a tap to remove any remnants of dry shadow.  You can buy Blackout as a single shadow or get the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.  It's in there. Find Urban Decay single eye shadows for $20.00  and the Naked 2 Palette originally selling for $54.00 at Sephora and Ulta   Shop for Urban Decay Eyeshadow on Amazon Has your f

Hibiscus Ombre Nail Design

If you are looking for inspiration for your nail art, just look to nature. The are so many beautiful shapes and colors. Flowers have been giving me wonderful nail art inspiration this summer. Look how beautiful colors in my hibiscus look on my nails! I created an ombre design using 4 nail polish colors. I started by covering the entire nail with LA Girl Color Pop Nail Polish in Hibiscus. That's the most perfect name for this nail polish color! I added Jesse's Girl Nail Color in Carolina Beach from mid nail to the tip blending the edge into the Hibiscus polish. Wet n Wild Fast Dry Polish in The Wonder Yellow went on the tip of the nail.  Then, China Glaze Travel in Colour added nice iridescent glitz. I wonder what flower will inspire me next?
