They contain animal by products. They would not be considered vegan or vegetarian. I didn't notice stearic acid on the lipsticks I checked, but I did see lanolin, silk powder, carmine and squalane. Stearic acid can be plant or animal derived. You can always send P&G an email asking specifics on ingredients.
