Eye Shadow Colors for your Eye Color

We want people to notice our beautiful eyes not our beautiful eye shadow. It's much more flattering to hear "Your eyes are beautiful" instead of "I love your eye shadow".  Wearing the right color eye shadow can enhance the natural eye color actually intensifying the eye color.  Eye shadow colors that are opposite of your eye color will bring out the intensity of your eye color.  They are called complimentary colors. Complimentary are opposite each other on the color wheel.  Eye Shadow Colors to Enhance your Eye Color Blue Eyes   For blue eyes, orange is opposite of blue on the color wheel.  Choose eyeshadow in shades of coral, peach, copper, rust, and warm brown to bring out the blue of your eyes.  Taupe, plum, charcoal and black are flattering neutrals for blue eyes.  The old rule of thumb is blue eyed people should not wear blue eye shadow. The thinking was the blue shadow will detract from the blue of the eyes.  I find that some blue shad...

12 Tips for Better Beauty Sleep

Sleep.  Most of us don't get enough of it.  The recommended amount of sleep for adults is 7-9 hours per night, not the 6 1/2 that I usually get.  By age 75, you will likely have slept about 25 years!  Our bodies are very busy while we sleep especially the skin. Our body is removing toxins, building elastic fibers that support the skin (we need those fibers to look younger) and revitalizing skin cells. As we sleep, the body rejuvenates and repairs cell damage.  The body needs sleep to do it's restoration. Before bed, cleanse your face removing all traces of makeup before bed. This is a good time to exfoliate those dead skin cells away. Thorough bedtime cleansing and exfoliating help reduce breakouts and increase absorption of night treatment products. Apply a night treatment with retinol, peptides, salicylic acid or Vitamin C formulated for your skin type. Night treatment creams are designed to work with your skin's natural repair and rejuvenat...

How to firm up flabby skin

Q.   Beach time is coming and my skin looks awful! The skin on my thighs, derriere and stomach is loose and ripply. It's flabby!!! What can I do? A. As we age, the production elastin and collagen in our skin slows down leaving us with not so firm skin.  Stimulating the skin through exfoliation will help encourage collagen production as well as eliminate dull dry cells and improving circulation to the surface of the skin.  There are some easy inexpensive things you can do with your at home skin care routine to improve the look of flabby skin. I included my Amazon Affiliate links in this post to assist you with your shopping. Tips to Firm up your Skin Dry Brush Use a dry body brush over your skin before taking a shower. Use light long upwards strokes on your legs and derriere to not only exfoliate, but encourage lymph drainage. Lymph drainage massage stimulates the lymphatic system to carry away wastes including excess fluid. Firming Lotion Apply a toning body l...

Scrub vs Peel

Q. What is the difference between a scrub and a peel? A. Both products remove dead skin cells, help unclog pores, make the skin look fresher and stimulate circulation and cell renewal, but they do it in a different way. The difference between a scrub and a peel Scrub A scrub is a creamy grainy mixture that is massaged onto wet skin and rinsed off. The action of the grainy particles sloughs away dead skin. It can be to rough for sensitive skin, though. It can also cause microscopic scratches in the skin. Peel A peel doesn't contain grainy particles. A peel can be a liquid acid, such as glycolic acid, that is applied to the skin, left on for a certain amount of time and removed with cotton then rinsed off. The chemical action loosens and removes dead skin cells. A peel can also be a gel or cream that is applied to the skin that sets to a gummy film and is massaged off in circular motions. These peels can be called gommages or soft peels. Dead cells are sloughed off wi...
