Prom Makeup 2018: Pretty Primrose Pink Makeup for Glasses Wearers

It's prom time and we've had quite a few beauties come in the salon for hair and makeup! Wearing glasses is an "in" thing now so many women are choosing to wear their glasses to the prom.  A recent prom client wanted a natural makeup that would help her eyes stand out behind her dark framed glasses. She would be wearing a black dress to the prom. I thought  extra attention to her lashes and  makeup in shades of primrose pink would be perfect for her fair complexion. I started by applying light peach concealer to the under eye area and an ivory foundation with both a foundation brush and sponge. Her eyes were lined with black pencil liner on the top lashes and dark brown on the lower lashes, then gently smudged with dark brown shadow.  I used one of my favorite eye shadow palettes, the Too Faced Natural Love Eye Shadow Collection. The soft pink shadows look like they were made for her! For her lashes, I applied black mascara and added lash fibers to make...

Lorac Pro Conceal/ Contour Palette review and swatches

Is the Lorac Pro Conceal/Contour Palette worth it? Well for me, kind of. I'll tell you why.... I use a variety of concealer colors on one face depending on what I am trying to correct so I thought this palette would be fantastic for myself and to use on my clients. These are cream makeup colors to use for concealing, contouring and highlighting. There 8 colors for concealing and contouring, the top and middle rows. The 4 shimmer highlighting colors row are the bottom.  The shimmers are very subtle. In fact, they are what I like best about the palette. This palette comes with a nice double ended brush and a how to booklet. I have to say, I love the brush! The bristles are soft and great for blending. One end of the brush is a dome blender brush. It's great for foundation application, too. I have read that people are unhappy that it is too wide to dip into the pans of product. It is wide. I prefer to use the smaller pointed brush on the other end for dipping into the p...

Nail Polish Colors Spring 2018: The Zoya Thrive Collection, Swatches and Color Descriptions

It's the first full day of spring but it doesn't look like spring here in the Philadelphia area! Snow is coming down fast and furious with the possibility of 12+ inches! 😭 This is  our fourth Nor'Easter this March. Ridiculous!!!  At least my nails look like spring! Zoya's Thrive Collection of six colors for spring is happy and nicely pigmented. The rich opaque colors go on smooth and easy with no streaking. There are three creams and three metallics. One of the metallics, Leisel, is a very sheer shimmering topper. All the colors are gorgeous!!! You must add them to your nail polish collection! Darby is a dusty blue gray with a soft slightly iridescent metallic. It covers the nails beautifully. Darby topped with Liesel Trudith is a grayed wisteria purple cream. Perfect opaque  coverage. Trudith topped with Leisel I love this combination and had it on my toes during our warm February! Brandi is a soft medium warm pink. I...
