Facial Waxing and Makeup Adhesion

Plan your facial waxing carefully or you may have trouble with makeup adhesion for your party or special event. 

You would think it's a good idea to have your lip and brow waxing done right before your event so you look nice and hair free. 

Think again! 

Makeup may slide right off freshly waxed skin!


Dead skin cells are exfoliated when the wax is pulled off during the hair removal leaving the skin super smooth. 

Your foundation and eye makeup may not stick on those smooth freshly waxed areas on your face such as your upper lip, chin or brows. 

I have had it happen when applying prom makeup.  The prom girl shows up with a freshly upper lip and foundation just slides right off leaving a weird looking shiny spot. 

Remedy for makeup not sticking to freshly waxed skin

It takes a bit of my favorite eye shadow primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion), foundation, powder and a light touch to get it to stick. It's quite a challenge.

Apply Primer
You can use a face primer but I prefer the holding power of UD Primer Potion for this job. I like the original nude formula. Apply primer to the freshly waxed area by patting it on with your fingers.

Let Primer Set
Let the primer dry and set up. Wait about 5 minutes.

Apply Foundation
Apply your foundation with a makeup sponge. Pat it on with a light touch.

Let Foundation Set
Let the foundation dry and set up. Wait a bout 5 minutes.

Set with Powder
Apply a light dusting of translucent powder. Again, use a light touch and a patting motion.

Apply Eye Shadow
Now you can apply eye shadow to the brow area if desired. Use your fingertips to press the shadow on.

Setting Spray
Spray with makeup setting spray to hold everything in place.

Avoid the Problem
Avoid the hassle of your makeup not sticking by having your facial waxing done at least 3 or 4 days before your event to help solve the super smooth skin problem.

Nerium AD: Nerium Oleander Side Effects (part 1)
