Peppermint Coconut Sugar Scrub Recipe

One of the most beneficial treatments to make your skin beautiful and glowing in a hurry is exfoliation. Exfoliation scrubs off old dead skin cells that look dull and gray, helps unclog pores, stimulates circulation and promotes collagen production.

One of my favorite body scrubs is a peppermint coconut sugar scrub. You can easily make this scrub at home using 3 ingredients you can get right in your grocery store.

Coconut Oil moisturizes the skin and provides antioxidants to help skin look younger and healthier. It comes in a jar and is a solid that melts to a liquid at warmer temperatures.

 Sugar provides the grit to slough away dead skin.

 Peppermint is uplifting and produces a cooling effect. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and decongestant.

Here is my Peppermint Coconut Sugar Scrub Recipe

    1/2 cup granulated white sugar
    1/2 cup coconut oil
    10 drops peppermint essential oil or 1/4 teaspoon     peppermint extract                                       

 funnelMix ingredients together in a bowl or measuring cup.

 I mix in a measuring cup for easy pouring. I like to transfer the scrub into 3 oz. travel size squeeze dispensers instead of jars. You can get them at Bed, Bath and Beyond.  A funnel makes the transfer into the dispenser easy.

 The squeeze dispensers are easy to use in the shower, they keep the scrub from getting contaminated with bacteria and such and you can easily take them with you while traveling.

Tips on using coconut oil in the shower:


1. Your tub or shower can become slippery when you use oil while showering. Put a towel on the floor of your shower or in the tub to stand on to keep from slipping.

2. Coconut oil is a solid when cool. It becomes liquid when warm. If you have trouble squeezing the scrub out of the tube, put it in the shower. The warm water will help it liquefy so you can squeeze it from the tube easily.
