Why is mineral makeup itchy and irritating?

Loose powder mineral foundation is touted as being a safe, natural makeup with minimal natural ingredients that is perfect for sensitive skin. Not for my sensitive skin!!! Many loose powder mineral makeup brands irritate my skin and make it itch like crazy! My skin has reacted terribly to Bare Minerals and Youngblood loose powder mineral foundations. There are many people who use both of these brands with no problems at all and truly love them. We carry Youngblood makeup at the salon and our clients rave over the loose mineral foundation. It makes my skin itch and it has an occlusive feeling on my face. I can't wait to wash it off! It's the same reaction I have to the Bare Minerals powder foundation. Using mineral powder foundation is a quick and easy way make your skin look great. It gives you decent coverage with just a little of the product as you swirl it on with a kabuli brush or powder brush. It has a barely there feel, if you are not sensitive to it. It is especi...

Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation Review

Is your skin looking parched from the cold winter? It needs moisture and protection from the harsh winter winds! Some foundations offer more hydration for dry skin than others.  One of our suppliers suggested we try Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation with Deep Sea Hydrating Complex.  I always like to sample a product before we start carrying it in the salon. I completely agree with the philosophy of Youngblood cosmetics. These are mineral cosmetics that contain no talc, parabens or artificial fragrance and they are not tested on animals. The Liquid Mineral Foundation is also vegan and gluten free. This foundation contains a lot of flower and plant extracts and is suitable for sensitive and irritated skin. Which is great, except for my allergy friends. You really need to read the ingredient list for potential plant allergens. Our sample foundation color was Golden Tan, not a bad color for me to try out. This foundation comes in a 1 ounce plastic pump bottle and sells for ...

My Foundation Doesn't Match My Tan!

You've search and sampled and finally found the perfect liquid foundation to match your skin color. The problem is, it's summer and you're a bronze goddess, so now your foundation doesn't match your tan skin!  You could go back to the drawing board and start shopping for a new foundation color for summer.  But, foundations can be expensive. One of my favorites, Urban Decay Naked Skin, is $40.00. I don't want to pay that much for a foundation that will just be used for the summer months. Plus, the skin could get even more tan or maybe even less tan, then the new foundation would no longer match. The other thing you could do is purchase a darker, warm tan shade of foundation and mix it with your foundation. But, then you would still have the expense of purchasing that new foundation. There is a simple less expensive solution  that I frequently use  to solve this foundation dilemma. You can add a loose powder bronzer to your foundation. It's an easy solution ...

Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer

My skin has that dull winter look about it. So I headed to Sephora to pick up a bottle of Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer. I just love a luminizer to add life to the skin. It brightens, highlights and helps blur away flaws. You can use it alone as a highlighter and apply it to specific areas, such as the tops of your cheek bones, on your brow bones, on bridge of your nose and your cupid's bow, or add a drop to your foundation to give your face an all over glow. I use it both ways depending on my mood and the look I want to create. Here is what it looks like by it's self. A gorgeous shimmering golden bronze. It creates a beautiful golden glow with a little sparkle. There is less sparkle when it is mix with foundation. Many Josie Maran products contain Argan oil. It's a fabulous anti aging ingredient full of Vitamin E and fatty acids to beautify the skin. Note: Since I wrote this post, this product has been replaced with Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer. ...
