How to Apply Face Gems

Add some sparkly drama to your makeup with rhinestones and gems used for nails designs.
Stick them on your skin with a little eyelash glue. You can also use a little Vaseline, but gems are brushed off more easily than with eyelash glue.
Find nail art rhinestones and gems in dollar stores, drug and super stores and beauty supply stores.
(Note: If you are allergic to latex, read your labels on the eyelash glue. Most contain latex. Look for a non latex lash glue)

Glitter Shadow Glue

Here is an update to last year's post on glitter shadow glue because it's time to sparkle!

I love to wear glitter eye shadows to holiday parties, but I hate the glitter fall out all over my lashes and face.

There is a solution. It's Glitter Insurance from Too Faced.

It is a glitter glue glitter bonding eye shadow primer that goes on before you apply your glitter eye shadow. It is clear and actually enhances the glitter. It grabs onto the glitter and locks it down eliminating the glitter fallout!

Find it for $20.00 at Ulta, Sephora and https://www.toofaced.com/p-546-shadow-insurance-glitter-glue-eye-shadow-primer.aspx?

Heel No Pain

I would love to wear these fabulous shoes on New Years Eve but they would kill my feet and be off before the night was over! I heard there is a new product to help us keep our shoes on, Heel No Pain. It is a numbing spray for your feet! It contain lidocaine HCl which is commonly used by dentists as a numbing agent. It was developed by a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr.Randal Haworth,  and will be available January 2, 2014. Well, that's a little too late for me to use for my New Year's Eve shoes!

Anyway, spray the product on your feet, wait 10-15 minutes and you are good to go! Apply it no more than 4 times a day. ABC news reporter Celia Vega tried it. It didn't work for her. Dr. Haworth says it works for 70% of people. It comes in a 2 oz. size and a 1oz. for your purse for $14.99.

Sounds like it is a good thing to use for special occasions if it works for you. Those sexy heel do damage to our feet. If they were numb all the time, imagine the damage we would be doing to our feet and not realizing it.

Here is the link to their website more info and ordering:

2014 Winter Solstice

Winter official begins on December 21. It's the night that has the longest amount of darkness.Take advantage of the darkness with a good night's sleep.

As we sleep, our bodies repair cell damage which keeps us healthy and younger looking! Most people need 7-8 hours of sleep per night, but don't get that much. The longest night is the perfect time to start getting your 8 hours.

Glitter Fallout Removal Tip

Here is one of my old favorite makeup tricks. It comes in handy at holiday time when we love to wear our glitter eye shadow.
It never fails.  No matter how carefully you apply that sparkly eye shadow glitter, some always manages to fall onto the cheeks!
No worries!  Just roll some scotch tape around your finger and use it to lift the flecks of glitter right off your skin.

How to open a stuck bottle of polish

Don't you hate when you try to open a nail polish bottle and it's stuck? Here are some remedies to get it to open.

Run the bottle under hot water for a couple minutes to loosen it up, dry it off and you should be able to open it.

Still stuck? Try a rubber jar opener or a rubber glove.

No luck? Turn the bottle upside down. Use a Q-tip saturated in polish remover to get between the neck of the bottle and the lid letting drops of remover drip inside the lid. Wrap a tissue around the bottle to catch the remover that will drip out when you turn it right side up. That should do it!

Now, clean up the bottle so it doesn't get stuck again. Use polish remover on cotton to clean up the old hardened polish on the bottle. Then, clean up the old hardened polish that is inside the top by using a Q-tip or an orangewood stick tipped with cotton soaked in polish remover.

Help for Breaking Nails

broken nail

Q. Help my nails are breaking like crazy! What's going on?

A. The dry air and overexposure to water is what's going on! Nails get dehydrated and brittle in the winter due to lack of humidity in the air both outside and inside our houses. Plus, dragging out the dusty boxes holiday decorations doesn't help!

Protect your hands by wearing warm gloves when you are outside.

Protect your hands from water and cleaning products by wearing waterproof gloves.

Apply hand lotion frequently throughout the day.

Invest in a humidifier for your house to moisturize the air.

Try the old remedy of petroleum jelly and white cotton gloves at night. I have seen white cotton gloves at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Target.

Head to the salon to a hydrating spa manicure and a paraffin dip to moisturize your skin and nails.

You can use a little crazy glue to hold your broken nail together till you can get to the salon for a repair.

To glue your nail:
1. Push the broken piece of nail back in place
2. Apply a tiny drop to the broken area.
3. Hold the nail in place till the glue dries

Make sure the nail is clean and very dry before you apply the glue. You can apply the glue over nail polish but it will need to be filed off at the salon to do the repair .

Have Beautiful day!

Are Tresemme Products Tested on Animals?

I recently noticed something different on the labels of Tresemme products. The magic words "not tested on animals" are missing! Alberto Culver was the manufacturer. It is now Unilever.
I always liked Tresemme. The products were good, inexpensive and not animal tested. I won't use them now.  I contacted Tresemme by email to let them know my displeasure. The response from Unilever was a link explaining how they are working on alternatives to animal testing. Here is the link if you would like to read it.

If you too are unhappy that Tresemme is no longer not tested on animals, contact Unilever and let them know. Go to Tresseme.com to the contact us page and send them a message. We all need to speak up letting manufacturers know we don't want our beauty products tested on animals!  Here is a link to the contact page.

There are many other brands of hair products that are not tested on animals to choose from. I always loved Paul Mitchell products. Also, Organix hair products are a good alternative Tresemme products. You can find them right in your drug store, super store and grocery store.
