How to heal dry peeling lips

shiny red lips
Are your lips still dry and peeling? Get sexy kissable lips with a little TLC. Start by giving them a gentle exfoliation.
You can exfoliate your lips in a few ways:

A brush
Use a toothbrush or a motorized brush such as a Clarisonic brush on wet lips.

A washcloth
Use a wet washcloth on wet lips.

A scrub
Use a sugar scrub on wet lips.

Here is an easy sugar scrub recipe.
brown sugar scrub

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Olive Oil

Mix brown sugar and olive oil together in a small bowl until smooth. Wet your lips. Apply scrub to your lips. Massage the lips and lip line in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.

Exfoliate your lips once or twice per week. Exfoliating them more than that can over exfoliate them causing more peeling and irritation.

Now Moisturize!
After exfoliation, apply a thin layer of moisturizer. A facial moisturizer for dry or sensitive skin works well.

Now Seal!
Next, add a lip balm to seal up the moisturizer. Some good ones to try are ESO , Blistex , Burt's Bees, Dr. Bronner's and Yes to.

Your lips will be smooth and soft in no time

Crocheted Shorts for Men

I tuned into Kelly and Michael this morning to see Kelly showing this pic of crochet shorts for men.

I was so amused by it, I just had to share it!
crocheted shorts for men
I can't think of one man that I know who would wear them. Not even my daughter's free spirited boyfriend. They are very creative, though!

Perhaps you have a man who  would love them.

Here is an etsy shop to purchase a pair or maybe you fancy crocheted pants! You can get them custom made here: LordvonSchmitt

What season does hair grow the fastest?

before and after hair collage
Want to try a shorter hairstyle but you are a little nervous about going short?

Get your new short style in the spring! If you don't like the shortness, there is good news.

Hair grows just a little faster in the summer due to warmer temperatures.

The warmth and the sun exposure cause hormone changes in our bodies that cause better circulation.

Better circulation provides more nutrients to the scalp which helps our hair grow better.

So go ahead, try that new hair cut with less fear, as long as it's Springtime!

Have a Beautiful Day!

14 Tips on How to Dress for an Interview

Are you hunting for a new job? Your appearance, from head to toe, matters more than you think!
sexy pump with mesh
I chatted with a woman who was interviewing people to fill a job opening. She commented on one particular applicant's appearance. She said the job seeker was wearing worn open toe shoes with unpolished toe nails. The interviewer didn't even consider hiring her. Why? Lack of attention to the details in one's appearance implies the there may be a lack of attention to details in one's work.

This may not really be the case at all. The unpolished toe person could be an excellent employee, but the first impression doesn't say that at the interview. The business world is competitive. Like it or not, you must polish up for a job interview. Taking care of your appearance really does matter! Employers really do check out the details.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to polish up your look. For example, do a little bargain shopping at the mall for your interview outfit. There are great finds in the clearance rack. Polish your own nails or stop at the salon and get a polish change on your fingers and toes instead of a whole mani and pedi.

14 Pre-Interview Grooming Tips:

1. Appropriate clothing
Start by wearing the appropriate clothing style for the job you are after. Research the dress code of the company and create a sharp clean look. Is the dress code formal, conservative or business casual? Save the short shirt and low cut top for date night. No flip flops either.

2. A Sharp
Appearance
Your clothes, shoes, handbag, computer bag, brief case, etc. must be in good repair and look fresh and clean. No wrinkles, holes, stains, lint or pet hair. Remember that commercial that featured the talking stain? lol! Here's the link:

3. Clothes that fit
Wear clothes that fit properly. Not too tight. Not big and baggy either.

4. Accessorize!

Add a bit of simple jewelry, a scarf or nice belt to show you attend to every detail.

5. Nice Nails

No super long nails or ragged uneven nails. Have your nails a shorter length, well filed and even.

6. Polish up!

Wear polish on your fingernails and also on your toenails if you plan on wearing peek toe shoes. Choose a classic color such as nude, neutral pink or red. No trendy blue or green! Don't like color? Wear clear.

7. Simple Nails

Save the glitzy nail designs for another day.

8. Fresh Polish

No chipped polish. It is sloppy looking and shows lack of attention to details.

9. Lotion up.

Moisturize dry rough hands. Be sure to massage the lotion into the cuticles. You most likely will be shaking hands.

10. Style your Hair

Your hair must be neat and clean.

11. No Over the top Makeup

Makeup always offers a polished look. Keep it on the conservative side. This is not the time for cat eyes and magenta lips.

12. No strong perfume.

13. Cover your Tattoos

You may want to hide any obvious tattoos and remove jewelry from facial piercings. Both can be distracting, plus the person interviewing may be judgmental.

14. Polish the Pearly Whites
Brush and floss your teeth. You don't want to have that dreaded piece of salad stuck between your teeth!

How to fix Thin Eyebrows

This is what we want...
thick eyebrow
thick, full youthful brows. We want to look more youthful so we need to make our brows look thicker. Plus, thick bold brows are a current trend.

But...

This is what we have.
thin eyebrow
Eyebrows can become thinner and more sparse as we age. They also have a tendency to get shorter from both ends. Brow thinning also happens due to certain medical conditions such as thyroid disorders. Or it can happen from just plain over plucking.

There are a number of things you can do to help your brows look thicker and fuller. I have included Amazon Affiliate links in this post to help you find the best brow products for you.

How to Fix Thin Eyebrows

Put away the tweezers
It's not easy but put away the tweezers let your brows grow back if you have over plucked. Unfortunately, brow hairs don't always grow back after being plucked. You will just have to wait and see what grows back.

Fill them in
This is the easiest fix. Use a brush and a brow powder or a powder eye shadow that matches your hair color to fill thin brows in to hide the sparseness and add a little thickness. A powder is easy to work with and will give you a softer look than a pencil. It will also color gray hairs.

This Brow powder from brow guru Anastasia will get you brow looking fuller and more beautiful.
Try a hair growth formula
There are a variety of topical treatment options to help stimulate hair growth for thin brows. These types of treatments need to be used consistently to see results. The brows will return to their former state when you stop using the treatment.

Latisse
Latisse is a prescription medication used to treat hypotrichosis, not enough eye lashes. It seems to help brows grow better too. You will begin to see some improvement in about 5 weeks.

Grande Brow
There is a non prescription product called Grande Brow Eye Brow Enhancing Serum. It is made by the company that makes Grande Lash and uses amino acids, vitamins, peptides and plant extracts to help grow thicker eye brows.

Apply to the brows once daily. You will see improvement in your brows in 6 to 8 weeks.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Panthenol, Glycerin, Sodium Citrate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Alanine, Alcohol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arctostaphylos Uva URSI Leaf Extract, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Calcium Gluconate, Caprylyl Glycol, Chamomilla Recutita (Metricaria) Flower Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Gluconolactone, Glycine, Hexylene Glycol, Histidine, Honey Extract/Mel/Extrait de Miel, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Hydrolyzed Yeast Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Isoleucine, Isopropyl Cloprostenate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, PCA, Phenylalanine, Polysorbate 20, Proline, Propylene Glycol, Serine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Lactate, Sodium PCA, Threonine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethanolamine, Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot) Leaf Extract, Valine, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Metabisulfite

Castor Oil
Castor oil is a nice safe natural option to use to thicken eyebrows. Apply organic castor oil to your brows at night. Massage the oil into the skin in the brow area. You should see some improvement in your brows in 4 to 6 weeks.
Get Brow Extensions
Lash extensions are great for creating long lashes. Extensions are also great for creating fuller looking brows. Find a salon that does lash extensions and ask if the also do brow extensions too or order a DIY kit. It is not easy to do your own lash extension but you can easily do your own eyebrow extensions.

Then, there is also microblading.

Microblading
Microblading is a professional semi permanent beauty procedure to beautify thin brows. It is similar to brow tattooing. Small hair like cuts are made in the skin in the thin brow area. Then, a pigment is applied to the area. The pigment heals in the skin mimicking the look of hairs.

It is a bit pricy. One treatment can run hundreds of dollars and lasts about 12 to 18 months. A few of my clients have had nice results from microblading.

I personally will stick to filling my brows in and using castor oil to stimulate hair growth. Remember, you must be consistent with using brow treatments. When you stop, the brows will go back to how they were.

Lorac Champagne Dreams Palette

I pick up this Lorac Champagne Dreams Eye Shadow Palette at Ulta. It was one of their Daily Beauty Steals during their 21 Days of Beauty event. The packaging is so beautiful!
lorac champagne dreams

It is just as beautiful inside!

I hesitated before I bought it because I read a review that said the colors didn't show up well when applied and there was no staying power. It was only $15 so what the heck, I bought it. I figured I would use my favorite eye shadow primer, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, first. It makes all shadows work better!

The colors do have sheerness, but they go on nicely.  They blend well together and create a beautiful soft shimmering look. I did apply the Primer Potion first, by the way, and the shadow stayed beautiful and crease free all day. I used 5 of the 7 colors to create this look.
Pink and taupe eye shadow
I think would be amazing on a bride!

The Champagne Dreams palette was a special palette. I don't know if you can still get it, but the colors look very similar (in fact, they could be the same because the Champagne Dreams shadows are not named) to the Lorac Unzipped Palette. $42.00 at Ulta and Loraccosmetics.com.
