OPI Spring/Summer 2017 Fiji Collection

It's that time. Time for OPI to release their spring/summer nail polish collection. This year we have Fiji as the theme. Fiji is a volcanic island in the South Pacific Ocean with beautiful turquoise water, white sand beaches, coconut palms and lush green mountains dotted with colorful tropical flowers.

The nail polish colors in the OPI Fiji collection reflect all those bright tropical colors of Fiji's land and sea. Here we go!

OPI Fiji Collection
OPI-Fiji-Collection

1. Two-Timing The Zones- a nice bright pink cream with a blue undertone that applies beautifully

2. Living on the Bula-vardi- a bright medium coral cream that may need extra coats to get it solid looking.

3. Getting Nadi on my Honeymoon- a soft pink cream that has a lot of white in it which means it's streaky and difficult to apply

4. Polly wants a Lacquer- a soft lavender cream that is sheer and takes many coats to get a nice solid color

5. Do you Sea what I Sea?- a gorgeous bright medium blue shimmer that may need an extra coat

6. Is That a Spear in your Pocket?- a beautiful teal green cream that applies beautifully

7. I Can Never Hut Up- a gray with a barely there iridescent shimmer that applies nicely

8. Super Trop-i-cal-i-fuji-istik- a fabulous medium deep blue cream with a stupid name that applies beautifully. I want to call it a French Blue. My favorite of the bunch!

9. Suzi without a Paddle- an beautiful aqua cream but it can go on a little streaky

10. Coconuts over OPI- a warm tan cream that applies nicely for a pretty nude look

11. No Tan Lines- a bright yellow orange cream that applies nicely

12. Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet- a bright sunny yellow cream that may take extra coats to get it nice and solid looking

OPI seems to be doing a run on cream polish. There is only one real shimmer in this collection. Their last collection, The Washington DC collection, was all creams. And, is it me or has OPI gotten a bit more racy with some of their nail polish names over the past couple years? Just sayin.

This collection is available in the traditional nail lacquer, Infinite Shine and Gel Polish.

The official release date is February 1, 2017. It can be hard to find the colors before the official release date.

Find The Fiji Collection at Salons, OPI.com and Ulta.

PS: The color I am wearing on my nails in the photo is Orly Indie Nail Lacquer, 0.6 Ounce

Urban Dacay Naked Eyeshadow Palettes

If you haven't heard, Urban Decay makes fabulous eye shadow palettes! One of their shadow palette collections is called the Naked Eyeshadow Collection. There 4 Urban Decay Naked palettes with 12 shades of neutral shadow colors packaged in a box with a mirror that resembles a watercolor paint box and a really great eyeshadow brush. Sooo fun!

Each palette has it's distinctive theme of neutral, nicely pigmented shades that blend easily and last all day. There are also Naked Basics eyeshadow palettes. We'll talk about them another day. Today is about the 4 Naked Palettes with 12 eyeshadow shades and what makes them different. Let's compare them!

The Naked Eyeshadow Palette

The first palette in the Naked collection is simply called Naked Eyeshadow Palette. It has a warm bronzy cast to gives you a warm summery glow. The shadows have a variety of finishes: matte, satin, shimmer and glitter. This palette works especially great with warm skin tones and helps to make blue eyes pop. It contains my favorite shimmery beige color Sin.

The shades are:
Virgin (cool pale beige shimmer), Sin (champagne shimmer), Naked (nude matte), Sidecar (beige shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Buck (fawn brown matte), Half Baked (golden bronze shimmer), Smog (deep coppery bronze shimmer), Darkhorse (deep mocha shimmer), Toasted (antique copper penny shimmer), Hustle (plum-brown satin), Creep (onyx shimmer w/gold sparkle) and Gunmetal (dark metallic gray shimmer w/silver micro-glitter).

The Naked 2 Eyeshadow Collection

Naked 2 has a taupe greige cast and contains my favorite matte black, Blackout. It has a mixed of warm and cool shades in a variety of finishes. This palette complements all skin tones and all eye colors.

The shades are:
Foxy (cream bisque matte), Half Baked (golden bronze shimmer), Bootycall (cork shimmer), Chopper (copper shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Tease (creamy pale brown matte), Snakebite (dark bronze shimmer), Suspect (pale golden beige shimmer), Pistol (light grayish brown shimmer), Verve (oyster shimmer), YDK (cool bronze shimmer), Busted (deep brown shimmer) and Blackout (blackest black matte).

The Naked 3 Eyeshadow Collection

Naked 3 has a rosy cast to it. From lovely pale pink to an interesting smoky matte black that has a red shimmer in it with some peachy pink and coppery pink colors in between. This palette works especially well with cool skin tones and helps make green and hazel eyes pop. I'm in love with the peachy pink Burnout.

The shades are:
Strange (pale neutral pink matte-satin), Dust (pale metallic pink shimmer w/iridescent micro-glitter), Burnout (light pinky-peach satin), Limit (light dusty rose matte), Buzz (metallic rose shimmer w/silver micro-glitter), Trick (light metallic pinky-copper shimmer w/tonal micro-sparkle), Nooner (medium pinky-brown matte), Liar (medium metallic mauve shimmer), Factory (pinky-brown satin), Mugshot (metallic taupe shimmer w/slight pink shift), Darkside (deep taupe-mauve satin) and Darkheart (smoky black matte w/rosy red micro-sparkle).

The Naked Smoky Palette

If you like a smoky eye, this is the palette for you! This mix, of light, medium and dark shadow, is just perfect for creating smoky shadow looks. I love Armor for a nighttime smoky sparkle! This palette work well with all skin tones and all eye colors, especially brown eyes.

The shades are:
High (champagne shimmer w/micro-glitter), Dirtysweet (medium bronze), Radar (metallic taupe w/iridescent micro-glitter), Armor (metallic silver-taupe w/tonal sparkle), Slanted (light metallic gray), Dagger (medium charcoal w/micro-shimmer), Black Market (jet-black satin), Smolder (deep plum-taupe), Password (cool taupe matte), Whiskey (rich brown matte), Combust (soft pink-taupe) and Thirteen (light beige satin).

Honestly, they're all are great!  It's hard to choose just one palette.  Consider your skin tone, eye color and the look you want to create to help you make your choice or you can buy them one buy one, like some people I know!!!

Here's a tip to make your eyeshadow last longer, with no fading or creasing, always apply Urban Decay Primer Potion before you apply your eyeshadow. You're going to love it!

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio

ooo la la! Look what I got for Christmas!

It's the Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio!

urban decay illuminated trio box
There are 3 gorgeous shades of shimmering powders in this box that can be used on your face and on your body to brighten and highlight the skin with a glowing sparkle.

The light reflecting glitter particles in the silky powders are micro fine so the shimmer left on the skin is gentle. These are not highly pigmented powders. They only leave a hint of color.
urban decay illuminated trio pyrite
A  gold champagne
urban decay illuminated trio oasis
A marbled taupe

urban decay illuminated trio twilight
An iridescent peachy pink

The palette comes with a soft double ended brush that feels good on the skin and it has a nice large mirror.

Here are all three on my skin. Twilight is on my eyelid. Oasis is on my brow bone and pyrite is on my cheek bone.  I love this powder on my eyelids. It really brightens and creates a nice barely there look. Very soft and very sexy!

I used the pyrite on my decolletage on New Years Eve. My friend's daughter was enchanted with the sparkle!

This is a limited edition product with special colors so get it while you can! It's almost gone! I found it still for sale on Amazon.

Urban Decay makes individual Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powders in three colors that are not limited editions so you can get them easily. They are Aura, Lit and Luminous . $32 each at Urban Decay.com, Ulta, and Sephora.

How to apply a Shimmer Powder

On your Face
Apply a luminating powder to highlight areas of your face where light shining on your face from above would naturally hit, such as, the bridge of the nose and the cheekbones.

Don't apply it all over your face. That would create an unnatural too shiny look.

On your Body

As with the face, apply to areas that would be highlighted by light shining on the skin. It looks beautiful applied to the shoulders, the chest and swept on the outside of the arms. Feel free to apply the luminating powder to a broader area of skin than you would on the face. It creates the perfect sexy shimmer when you are dressed for an evening out on the town.

Add it to lotion

You can sprinkle some powder into a lotion or oil and apply it to your legs for a subtle all over shimmer.

Have a sparkly day!
