Facial Waxing and Makeup Adhesion

Plan your facial waxing carefully or you may have trouble with makeup adhesion for your party or special event. You would think it's a good idea to have your lip and brow waxing done right before your event so you look nice and hair free. Think again! Dead skin cells are exfoliated when the wax is pulled off during the hair removal leaving the skin super smooth.

Your foundation and eye makeup may not stick on those smooth freshly waxed areas on your face such as your upper lip, chin or brows.

I have had it happen when applying prom makeup.  The prom girl shows up with a freshly upper lip and foundation just slides right off leaving a weird looking shiny spot. It takes a bit of my favorite shadow primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion), foundation, powder and a light touch to get it to stick. It's quite a challenge.

See some prom makeup ideas

Have your facial waxing done at least 3 or 4 days before your event to help solve the super smooth skin problem.

See me for facial and body waxing at Styling Point in Media, PA!

How to wear Accent Lashes

Q. What are accent lashes?

strip accent lashes
A. Accent lashes are partial strip lashes that attach to the outer ends of your eyes to give you a flirty winged look. Apply them with lash glue to the skin right at your lash line. Use a dark colored matte eye shadow to line your eye hiding the strip of the lashes. Blend the accent lashes with your natural lashes with mascara.

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

This is the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette. The are colors are beautiful neutrals.
smashbox full exposure palette
The top row is shimmer. The bottom row is matte.

The colors on the top and bottom coordinate with each other.
This palette remains one of my favorites year after year because I find the colors work well on many people.  I hope they never discontinue it! I am particularly fond of the black, the two taupey shades next to the black and the rich warm brown. The black is a soft black.  It is wonderful for using as eye liner!

Most of the shimmers are very sheer. Six of them are quite glittery. Most of them give very little color when applied. Just glitter. The one in the middle is frosted. I prefer very pigmented shadows so I like to use the shimmers over the matte shades to give them depth.

The 7 matte shades go on velvety smooth and opaque. They are creamy looking not dry and dull looking like some matte shadows can be. The mattes wear well. I do always apply them over my favorite Urban Decay Shadow Primer.

There was a handy guide to identify your eye shape and how to apply eye shadow to flatter your eye shape in the box along with a small Full Exposure Mascara. The mascara was good but it didn't wow me. I find sometimes a regular full sized mascara is better than a mini one. I'll have to give it another try to give it a fair review.

Find it at Ulta, Sephora, and smashbox.com for $52.00. Get it on Amazon for less!

I see that there is a Smashbox Mini Matte Eyes Palette.

It has six lovely matte colors that can be used as shadow, liner or for brows. I must have it!

Wedding Nails: Tips to get your nails in good shape

chevron french manicure

Q. I am getting married in 8 months and my nails are a wreck! I don't want to wear fake nails for my wedding. What should I do?

A.  Start now by getting a weekly manicure. It is amazing how it stimulates the circulation and helps the nails grow healthy and strong. Have a nail strengthener applied followed by polish.

Avoid artificial nails and gel polish which can dehydrate your nails.

Use hand lotion frequently through the day, everyday.

Apply a cuticle/nail oil daily. I like Solar Oil.

Apply a thin coat of strengthener every other day to harden the nails. It will also improve your polish wear. My favorite is Nail Optimizer.

Protect the nails from excessive water and chemical exposure by wearing rubber gloves.

Never use your nails as tools.

Try eating The Good Hair Diet . It is good for the nails too!

Your nails should look great in 6 months and magnificent by 8 months!

Hair, Skin & Nail Vitamins for Vegans and Vegetarians

If you have trouble with thinning hair, dull unhealthy looking hair and brittle nails that frequently break, you may want to try a vitamin supplement.

There are vitamin formulas specifically made for your hair, skin and nails. Hair, skin and nails are all made of the same protein, keratin protein. The hair and nails are hard keratin. The skin is soft keratin. Specific vitamins help built stronger keratin.

Hair skin and nail supplements contain a large amount of biotin along with other vitamins including Vitamins A, C, E and B complex. I have had clients see a definite improvement in their thinning hair and brittle nails from taking Biotin. Many say their hair is thicker and stronger. One client says she has less gray hair!!!

You can easily find Hair, Skin and Nail Vitamins wherever vitamins are sold; grocery stores, drug stores, health food stores and on Amazon, of course.
Vegetarians and Vegans: read the ingredient labels. Many vitamins contain gelatin and collagen which are both derived from animals sources. Bonita, Deva and Puritan's Pride are a few brands that make vegan hair, skin and nails vitamins.
You can always eat your vitamins.

Have a Beautiful Day!💅
