Bridal Makeup: A Rustic Autumn Wedding in Lewisberry

It was a beautiful sunny autumn day with just a slight chill in the air. A perfect day for a wedding with a warm and rustic theme. The wedding was held at The Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, Pa. The decor of wood, pine cones, pumpkins, fresh and dried flowers added to the warm, cozy feel of the lodge. The theme was rustic but the bride had a glamorous flare. For her makeup, she wanted her eyes to be showcased with lots of liner, smokiness and super lashes. I used shades of nude and brown shadow and black liner softened with warm brown shadow to give her some drama. Strip lashes with black mascara gave her the wow lashes she wanted.  Warm rosy blush complemented her complexion and a soft pink lipstick with a shimmer gave her lips some sparkle and shine. I just loved her earring bling! The lighting and long shadows were simply fabulous during the late afternoon outdoor ceremony.  Look how pretty it was! And there was yummy wedding cake with p...

Use Cinnamon to curb Sugar Cravings

We know that too much sugar is just not good for us. It actually ages our skin. But, those sugar cravings!  Use a little cinnamon to help curb that craving for sugar and carbs.  Add a 1/2  teaspoon of cinnamon to an apple or sprinkle it on your oatmeal in the morning. Cinnamon helps to stabilize your blood sugar helping to control the sugar craving.  It's easy and yummy!           Have a Beautiful Day!  xo Jill Licensed Cosmetologist,  Esthetician,  Makeup Artist PS: Thanks for using my amazon 💋 As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no cost to you. Q&A: French Manicure with a Broken Nail

Q. I want to have a French manicure done but I broke a nail. I don't want a nail tip put on. Can I still have it done? A. It will look fine as long as the nail lengths are not too extreme.  My remedy is to trim the longer nails a bit then, create an illusion with the white tips to make the nails look more even in length.  It will make your nails look more even. A nail polish color couldn't create that illusion. Arsenic in your Rice!

Have you heard, there is arsenic in your rice!  Arsenic is naturally occurring in soil. Years of using fertilizers and pesticides has added to the arsenic level in the soil. Rice plants grow in water allowing the plants to absorb the arsenic from the soil. That is how our rice gets arsenic in it.  Today there are more and more rice products in our grocery stores due to many people going gluten free. There is rice in cereal, granola bars, snacks, gluten free flours, gluten free pasta and more.  Don't panic. You don't have to stop eating it. But, there are a few things you can do to eat rice  more safely. Here are a few ways to reduce the amount of arsenic you ingest. 1. Eat white rice I know, it's not what we usually hear nutritionally. We have been told to eat brown rice. White rice has a lower level of arsenic than brown rice due to the fact that it is processed and the outer layer of rice is stripped off.  2. Eat rice less often...

Folliculitis: Red itchy bumps from shaving

Have you ever had these red itchy bumps on your legs. They look like little pimples.  It could be folliculitis.  What is Folliculitis? It's an infection in the hair follicles. Bacteria is the most common cause of folliculitis.  We all have staphylococcus and other bacteria normally living on our skin causing no trouble at all. But, sometimes the hair follicles become infected causing small pimples that can hurt or itch.   An infection can occur from friction from clothing, an injury to the skin or from shaving, especially with a dirty razor. Most folliculitis outbreaks are minor and clear on their own in a few days. See your doctor if the infection is severe, does not clear or gets worse. Here are some remedies you can try to help it heal. Folliculitis Remedies Anti-bacterial soap Wash with an anti-bacterial soap twice a day to kill the bacteria. Vinegar Apply a warm compress of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water twice a day. Vinegar will ...
