Food that is Sunscreen

Eating foods rich in anti-oxidants will provide a bit of sun protection. Plant foods are full of antioxidant compounds. Plants produce certain antioxidants to protect themselves from UV rays.

We get sun protection benefits by eating the fruits and veggies from those plants. Eating anti oxidant foods does not replace sunscreen, though. These foods give us extra protection and also fight cancer causing free radicals.

Eat richly color fruits and veggies. They contain high levels of anti oxidants. 

Fruits and veggies that are yellow and orange, such as orange and yellow bell peppers, sweet potatoes, carrots and mangos. contain cartenoids. 

Fruits and veggies that are red, such as beets, watermelon, tomatoes, red bell peppers, pomegranates and strawberries are high in lycopene. 

Blue and purple fruits such as blueberries and pomegranates 

contain anthocyanins

Leafy Greens such as spinach, kale and swiss chard are high in oxygenated caroteniod compounds. Broccoli is high in the anti oxidant sulphoraphane

Then there is green tea with polyphenol catechins and cocoa with it's Flavenols.
