Summer Bridal Makeup at The Old Mill, Rose Valley, Pa

I had the pleasure of doing a bit of wedding makeup over the July 4th holiday weekend at The Old Mill in Rose Valley, Pa. What an amazing spot for a wedding!
The Old Mill Rose Valley, Pa
The historic original mill building and Irish style gardens have a rustic charm with plenty of little hideaways for beautiful, romantic photos! There a bridal suite available with plenty of room and natural light to do hair, makeup and get dressed for the wedding.

I did the makeup for 3 Irish beauties, Mom (the bride) and her two daughters. One daughter had just flown in from Ireland! My friend Michelle did their hair. The wedding colors were pink and purple. The day very warm, sunny and gorgeous! Perfect for a late afternoon outdoor wedding.

Before applying makeup, it's important to prepare the skin. I started each face with a rose water toning and moisturizing with calming cream to make the sensitive skin look fresh, calm and dewy before the makeup application. I'm not always a fan of face primers. I find the silicone bases in many face primers can feel too slippery so I use them selectively. Shadow primer is a different story. Urban Decay Primer Potion is a must! All faces received a light dusting of powder to prevent too much shine on the warm summer day.

The Bride
The bride wanted to look like herself with a touch of glamour. Foundation, luminizing powder, bronzer and blush made the skin glow with subtle contouring and highlighting. We decided on a soft smoky eye in shades of pink, gold and plum to make her green eyes pop and add a bit of glamour. We decided against strip lashes due to the bride's sensitive eyes. Instead, I used layers of black waterproof mascara and lash fibers to create longer lashes. A nude pink lipstick with a gold luminizer highlight helped to add volume to her lips.

Brunette Daughter
The fair skinned beauty with dark hair showed me a pic of a neutral matte eye shadow with a thin line of eye liner on the top that she liked. I used all matte shadows in shades of white, cream, medium brown and dark brown to create a modern neutral look. We kept her skin creamy with sheer foundation coverage allowing a few freckles to show through. A soft pink blush and a hint of luminizing powder created a gentle glow. She wanted to leave her lips bare because she was not a fan of lipstick. I convinced her to try a little something on her lips.  So her lips were lined with a liner that matched her lip color with a nude gloss on top. She was happy with it.

Blonde Daughter
The bronze goddess with blonde hair (and by bronze, I mean spray tan bronze. That's a healthy tan!) wanted a gold eye shadow look which was perfect for her. I used shades of shimmering bronze, gold and copper. No mascara was needed on the top lashes because she just had lash extensions applied. A warm coral blush accented her cheeks and a creamy pink with a gold shimmer made her lips look beautiful.

They all looked fresh and lovely for the special day! I wish I could have stay for the wedding. Irish women really get all decked out for a wedding with lots of makeup, sparkle and fascinators. How fun!

All the best to the bride and groom for a life filled with love, health and happiness!

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps.  They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Read more about blackhead, whiteheads and blind pimples This is a common problem for the under-eye area. It is a dry, delicate area of the skin. I see it a lot on my clients. Heavy products

Dermatofibromas

This post is all about dermatofibromas and some remedies to help make them look better and ways hide them. It includes my Amazon Affiliate Links to help you find the products I talk about. Q. I have this brown bump on my leg that won't go away. What can I do about it? A. It could be a dermatofibroma. I see them often on my leg waxing clients. A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated. A doctor will tell you not to worry about it because it's benign, but it's kind of ugly! Dermatofibromas are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  Be careful when shaving because a dermatofibroma may bleed and become sore if nicked. Don't think you can get rid of it by shaving it off. It will be an awful looking sore and will j

Dermatofibroma on Leg

A Dermatofibroma is an unsightly brown or red bump that is very common on the legs. They are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas and are more common in women than men. They can hurt, itch and become inflamed easily. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  I have tried lots of home remedies on my dermatofibroma. Some help it look better than others but the ugly thing is still there! Read more about dermatofibroma remedies. There is only one way to remove it for good...surgery. It must be surgically excised out. A dermatofibroma goes deep into the skin. It will only grow back if it is cut off of the skin at surface level. The problem with the removal is it leaves a long scar that is about 2 inches or so long. It has to be done that way to be able to sew the skin back together so it is smooth and not puckery. Here is a picture of a scar from the removal of a dermatofibroma. This scar was also treated with a laser to imp
