Younique Moodstruck Epic Mascara: Review & Is Younique Cruelty Free?

 younique moodstruck epic mascara package
My friend Sam has recently started selling Younique Cosmetics. Younique Cosmetics are luxury products that are sold by a "presenter" through online product parties as opposed to home parties where you would invite friends to come to your house to see and purchase products. This is a multi level marketing company in which the sellers can rise in the ranks. It's a nice opportunity to make some extra money through social media marketing.

Sam knows of my mascara loveand recommended I try the Younique Moodstruck Epic Mascara. I was excited to try this multi-effect mascara! The claim is that this mascara will add incredible volume, length and curl with waxes that do not clump. Did it live up to the hype?

The Review
The mascara arrived in fabulous packaging with pink lips all over it which made getting the package extra fun! The mascara tube is a slender tapered design.

The mascara brush has high and low bristles with a tapered end which is very handy for reaching little lashes on the inner corners.

I found this mascara to be a rich black color. It went on smooth with very little clumping and added a lot of volume and a little length.

It did not curl my straight lashes, though. I applied it first without curling my lashes. No curl. Next try, I used a lash curler to create curl in my lashes before applying the mascara. My lashes uncurled a bit throughout the day but the mascara's black color did not fade and there was no flaking or smudging.

It defined each lash without too much sticking together. My lashes felt flexible and soft from the conditioning oils in the mascara. Plus, I had no irritation.

Lash Curl Tip: Waterproof mascaras have little or no water in them and tend to keep lashes curled better than non waterproof mascaras.

This is not a waterproof mascara but removal works best with an eye makeup remover as opposed to "soap & water".

One coat gives nice smooth coverage. The mascara quickly thickens the lashes with more coats creating lots of volume drama.

Here is one coat on my top lashes.

Now, 3 coats on top lashes and one coat on the bottom lashes.

I think it looks great and it held up well throughout the day.

Is it Tested on Animals?
The Younique people say no but there is no cruelty free statement on their site and they are not listed on any cruelty free resource lists.

I sent them an email inquiring. Their email response was this: "Although Younique does not test its products on animals and is confident that its product manufacturers do not conduct such tests, we have not pursued formal certification at this time."

Please contact Younique to encourage them to aquire cruelty free certification. Click here for Younique's email contact form.

Some Younique products are vegan. The Moodstruck Epic Mascara is not. It contains  beeswax and other ingredients such as keratin which may be animal sourced. Click here to review Younique's list of products formulated without animal ingredients or animal by products.

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps.  They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Read more about blackhead, whiteheads and blind pimples This is a common problem for the under-eye area. It is a dry, delicate area of the skin. I see it a lot on my clients. Heavy products

Dermatofibromas

This post is all about dermatofibromas and some remedies to help make them look better and ways hide them. It includes my Amazon Affiliate Links to help you find the products I talk about. Q. I have this brown bump on my leg that won't go away. What can I do about it? A. It could be a dermatofibroma. I see them often on my leg waxing clients. A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated. A doctor will tell you not to worry about it because it's benign, but it's kind of ugly! Dermatofibromas are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  Be careful when shaving because a dermatofibroma may bleed and become sore if nicked. Don't think you can get rid of it by shaving it off. It will be an awful looking sore and will j

Dermatofibroma on Leg

A Dermatofibroma is an unsightly brown or red bump that is very common on the legs. They are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas and are more common in women than men. They can hurt, itch and become inflamed easily. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  I have tried lots of home remedies on my dermatofibroma. Some help it look better than others but the ugly thing is still there! Read more about dermatofibroma remedies. There is only one way to remove it for good...surgery. It must be surgically excised out. A dermatofibroma goes deep into the skin. It will only grow back if it is cut off of the skin at surface level. The problem with the removal is it leaves a long scar that is about 2 inches or so long. It has to be done that way to be able to sew the skin back together so it is smooth and not puckery. Here is a picture of a scar from the removal of a dermatofibroma. This scar was also treated with a laser to imp
