Blue Makeup: Blue Eye Shadow, Blue Eye Liner, Blue Lipstick and Blue Nail Polish Recommendations

Blue is one of my favorite colors. The shades of indigo, royal blue, prussian blue, cerulean, sky blue and turquoise are particularly pleasing to me. You can imagine how ecstatic I am about the trending blue eye shadow.

It's not that old fashioned, intense blue the goes from the lash line to the brows that Mimi used to wear on the Drew Carey Show. It's now a soft mix of well blended shades of blue and other colors including gold, silver, white, black and peach.

If you missed it, here is a pic of Katy Perry's blue shadow on an episode of American Idol.

Gorgeous!!!💙
Now, her shadow is quite dramatic, not necessarily a style you would choose to wear for work or even for a night out. It's makeup for television and it's intense and amazing under the lights. It certainly can be modified to be more wearable in everyday life.

I use blue eye shadow quite frequently for prom and wedding makeup. It's nice to accent the eyes with a little blue when wearing a blue dress.

You can create a dramatic full on blue shadow look like Katy's with eye shadow or use a blue eyeliner to add just a touch of blue. You can get the blues with a blue lipstick as well.

Let's start with eye shadow.

Eye Shadow
There are lots of great eye shadow palettes available that include blues to create some beautiful blue eye shadow looks.

I like to incorporate a bit of peach shadow to my blue eye shadow look to create a softer, easy to wear look. Orange and blue are complimentary colors so they work very well together.

Apply a peachy shadow to the inner third of the eyelid. Add a light blue to the center of the eyelid. Apply a deeper blue to the outer third of the eyelid. Use an eye shadow brush to blend the colors together. Blending is the key to perfect eye shadow.

The Morphe Cosmetics James Charles Palette provides you with some gorgeous blue and peach options along with other vibrant color choices. It's a really popular, fun palette.

The Statement Velvet Eye Shadow Palette from Beauty Counter also has gorgeous less intense Denim and Peacock shades along with the peachy Cider. This eye shadow is very pigmented and has a smooth velvety finish. It lasts all day without creasing. I just love it!

The Sleek I-Divine Makeup Bad Girl Palette has beautiful shades of blue along with other beautiful shades including purple and green. This palette costs under $15 so you can get a blue look without breaking the bank.

For some blue sparkle, I recommend The Urban Decay Moondust Palette. I always love Urban Decay products! This palette has Vega, a beautiful bright blue, and Galaxy, a smoky blue gray. Element and Specter pair well with the blues. I'm loving the green, Lightyear, too! It would create a sparkling Caribbean sea look when paired with the Vega!

Eye Liner

A pencil eyeliner in blue is a super easy way to add a touch of blue to your eyes. It looks especially pretty paired with eye shadow in shades of nude and gold. Also, deep blue eyeliner applied over black eyeliner intensifies the black creating dramatic color.

NYX Slide on pencil in Sunrise Blue is a lovely medium shade of blue.

Bare Minerals Long Lasting Eyeliner in Nonstop Navy is a nice alternative to black liner. I frequently use navy liner when applying wedding makeup instead of black liner.

Blue lipstick is not for me even though I love blue. Maybe if it was around when I was younger, I would have worn it. A Blurple (bluish purple) is as far as I'll go! Here are a few pretty blue lipsticks to try.

Zoya Tommy is a beautiful bold blurple. It is pictured above.

NYX Macaron Pastel Lippies in Velvet Blue is a light electric blue.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Cobalt is a beautiful deep cobalt blue.

Manic Panic After Midnight Lethal Lipstick is a metallic deep blue. Absolutely gorgeous!

Blue Nail Polish

Now this is one of my very favorite blue things! Blue nail polish, especially blue polish on my toes. My clients will tell you. I almost always have blue toes! There are so many beautiful blues to try. I'll share a few shades from my favorite nail polish brand, Zoya.

Zoya Aire is a rich dusty blue cream. It's what I'm wearing in the pic above.

Zoya Blu is a pale baby blue cream. The perfect bridal something blue.

Zoya Breezi is a medium cerulean blue cream.
Zoya River is a metallic colbalt blue.

Zoya Song is a deep glitzy blue.

Zoya Rebel is a metallic sky blue with a silver shimmer.

I hope you enjoy wearing all these gorgeous shades of blue as much as I do. Maybe you are more into purple. Click here to see some great purple cosmetics!

White Bumps Under Eyes: Milia

Have you noticed that you have little white looking bumps under your eyes? Some people call it chicken skin because the bumps look like plucked chicken skin. 🐔 Most likely those little white bumps are milia. They can feel hard or pearly. These bumps are not acne. Milia can occur when dead skin cells become trapped beneath the outer layer of skin. Keratin becomes trapped and builds up. A small benign cyst can form which is the milia. It's a cyst!?! Don't let that word scare you. They are harmless, but unwanted bumps.  They can occur on any area of the skin that tends to be on the dry side. They cannot be squeezed out like a blackhead or pimple because they have no opening. A layer of skin covers them. A hole must be created in them using a needle, then they can be extracted out. Read more about blackhead, whiteheads and blind pimples This is a common problem for the under-eye area. It is a dry, delicate area of the skin. I see it a lot on my clients. Heavy products

Dermatofibromas

This post is all about dermatofibromas and some remedies to help make them look better and ways hide them. It includes my Amazon Affiliate Links to help you find the products I talk about. Q. I have this brown bump on my leg that won't go away. What can I do about it? A. It could be a dermatofibroma. I see them often on my leg waxing clients. A dermatofibroma is a tan to brown benign raised bump more common in women than men and occur commonly on the legs. The bump feels hard under the skin and can be itchy, tender and easily irritated. A doctor will tell you not to worry about it because it's benign, but it's kind of ugly! Dermatofibromas are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  Be careful when shaving because a dermatofibroma may bleed and become sore if nicked. Don't think you can get rid of it by shaving it off. It will be an awful looking sore and will j

Dermatofibroma on Leg

A Dermatofibroma is an unsightly brown or red bump that is very common on the legs. They are also called Benign Fibrous Histiocytomas and are more common in women than men. They can hurt, itch and become inflamed easily. They are the result of some sort of injury to the skin such as an ingrown hair or a bug bite.  I have tried lots of home remedies on my dermatofibroma. Some help it look better than others but the ugly thing is still there! Read more about dermatofibroma remedies. There is only one way to remove it for good...surgery. It must be surgically excised out. A dermatofibroma goes deep into the skin. It will only grow back if it is cut off of the skin at surface level. The problem with the removal is it leaves a long scar that is about 2 inches or so long. It has to be done that way to be able to sew the skin back together so it is smooth and not puckery. Here is a picture of a scar from the removal of a dermatofibroma. This scar was also treated with a laser to imp
